
What is a Bone Marrow Scan?
This test is usually done after a White Cell Scan, please inform our reception staff if you have had any previous scans prior to your appointment. A Bone Marrow scan localises sites of infection within your bone marrow usually at a joint replacement.
How do I prepare for a Bone Marrow Scan?
There are no preparations for this scan, you can eat and drink and work as per normal.
What happens during a Bone Marrow Scan?
You will be injected with a radioactive material and asked to wait at reception for about 30mins, after which we take images for about 1hr.
Are there any side effects of a Bone Marrow Scan?
None
How long does a Bone Marrow Scan take?
1.5 hours
When can I expect the results of my Bone Marrow Scan?
Results are usually ready the next day.
